Athlete Development

As the sport of triathlon grows so do the opportunities for younger athletes. Each year, new events are added that serve as gateways in the development process.  These exciting opportunities are for athletes as young as 7 years of age and for all experience levels from beginner to elite.  Please review the information on this website but also visit www.usatriathlon.org for the most up-to-date information.

To help guide the parents, athletes, and coaches we suggest utilizing the following steps to become more aware of what USAT and the SMW region can offer.

• The first step is to complete and update the Athlete Profiler
• Review the USAT Athlete Development Pipeline
• Participate in sanctioned USAT events
• Participate in USAT sanctioned Camp/Clinic opportunities
• Ask Questions of your regional council (link to the regional council page) or your Regional Athlete Development Coordinator (RADC), Shelly Campbell.
• Seek a USAT High Performance Triathlon Team.  We have two in the SMW Region, IconOne Multisport and T3Multisports.

Free Youth Finisher's Awards
USAT-SMW will provide Youth Finisher's Awards to race directors for their next USAT sanctioned event. Race directors can read about the details this program at the link below.
